Atlanta Blaze Moves to Philadelphia

Atlanta Blaze player & MLL star Tommy Palasek

According to the Major Lacrosse League, in 2020 MLL will operate under a unified ownership group that is capitalized for growth. Incorporated in the strategic plan is the relocation of select teams, thus streamlining the league and creating the greatest opportunity for additional investment.

It was announced on Wednesday that Atlanta’s MLL team Blaze will move to Philadelphia. We’ve shared fan experiences and worked with other media outlets to share content about Atlanta Blaze. So this is a shock to us. The Atlanta Blaze came to Atlanta after the MLL Championship was held here back in 2014 & 2015. The team officially debuted in 2016 and just last season the team moved from Kennesaw State’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium to Grady Stadium in Midtown Atlanta. Before the season ended, the team moved again over to Atlanta Silverbacks park due to scheduling. Support and attendance was not high so this move may be a direct result of that. Very sad to see the team go and I have to remind Atlanta fans that this is another team leaving the city!

Anyway, Here’s an throwback interview with Blaze owner Andre Gudger when he came on board back in 2018:

Major League Lacrosse 2020 season will begin on May 30th so stay tuned for more!
