The Atlanta Hawks are always up to something new, fresh and engaging. So what’s new in the pipeline? They’ll be hosting a Shark Tank-esque marketing competition titled Agency Shootout later this month.
This is an invite only event and some of the city’s top marketing agencies will be asked to complete a series of on-the-spot, Hawks-themed business challenges in approximately 10 minutes in front of a panel of judges, including seven-time NBA All-Star and Hawks vice chair Grant Hill. For taking part in the contest, each agency will receive recognition from the team, along with a donation to the charity of their choice by the Atlanta Hawks Foundation.
“Our goal as an organization is to entertain and unite the city of Atlanta through basketball, and there are a lot of unique ways to do that,” Melissa Proctor, Hawks executive vice president and chief marketing officer told USA TODAY Sports. “I believe that through this idea of the Agency Shootout, it was really looking at our B2B (business to business) community and thinking ‘How can we, as an organization, engage brands within the city as well as the creative community to kind of bring them together in a unique setting?'”
Joining Hill on the panel of judges: Hawks minority owner Jesse Itzler, Hawks CEO Steve Koonin, and vice president of marketing for Aaron’s Inc. Andrea Freeman.
