MLS Announces Atlanta United Home Opener

Wednesday, Major League Soccer announced their opening week schedule for the 2017 season. Included was the home opener for Atlanta United Football Club. The first year club will face off against the New York Red Bulls Sunday, March 5th at 7pm at the venerable Bobby Dodd Stadium at Georgia Tech.

Atlanta United has a sign-up available for pre-sale tickets which includes 2 other games on the Bobby Dodd portion of the schedule. The football club has surpassed 22,000 total season ticket sales. However, they have not released updated figures to the public.

“We’ve all been counting down the days and we finally have a date to circle on our calendars,” club president Darren Eales said in a statement from the team. “I know our fans are just as excited as we are to get started and we look forward to hosting this historic match in front of a packed house at Bobby Dodd Stadium.”

In November, Atlanta United inked a deal to play its home games at Bobby Dodd until Mercedes-Benz Stadium is ready for their new tenant.
