Major League Soccer today announced Atlanta United Defender Michael Parkhurst was named to the MLS All-Star team. The MLS All-Star Game will face off against UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid August 2nd at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Parkhurst’s addition now makes three members of the 5 Stripe Army representing MLS in the showcase game. Midfielder Miguel Almirón and defender Greg Garza were voted to the Fan XI earlier this month.
This will be Parkhurst’s fifth MLS All-Star appearance, as the center back was previously selected in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2014. Atlanta’s captain has started all 19 games this season and contributed to four clean sheets. He was also named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 18.
