The Lynx are actively involved with their community with programs such as Lynx Go Pink, Read to Achieve, Tickets for Kids, and Catwalk for a cure. All of these programs allow the phenomenal female athletes to be superstars on TV, and also serve as an example of a role model giving back to their community. The Lynx hold a pre-game tradition that is near and dear to their hearts.
Before EVERY home game twelve kids are chosen to receive a basketball from there favorite player. Just after the visiting team has been announced each Lynx player will run with their fan for the night onto half court and the player will present the fan with a WNBA basketball. During the year, the Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves team up to hold a basketball camp called Timberwolves & Lynx Basketball Academy. Each athlete gives individual training to each attendees in order to help improve their ball playing skills. This program allows the players and the fans to meet each other, offer advice, and to show the upcoming generation of basketball players some cool new moves.
The ladies of the Lynx not only win championships, but they also care about giving their fans more than just a great basketball game. They love to be hands on with their fans and to give back to their community that supports them. When you combine teamwork, talent, and a big heart you get a Minnesota Lynx!
