Fans Favorite: Falcons Players visit Charlotte Shooting Survivors

There were nine people who lost their lives at Emanuel AME Church on June 17th in Charleston, South Carolina. It was a horrific day and as a member of the African Methodist Episcopal church it shook my faith to the core. One great thing about this tragic event is that many people have come together. Many people have connected over their faith and their religion. Last Monday, some of the Emmanuel AME church members visited Atlanta and stopped by Big Bethel AME Church to have lunch. Big Bethel AME Church sits on Auburn Ave and has a sign that says, “Jesus Saves”, that you can see from the interstate. Big Bethel is also my home church. As a football fan, it was great to hear that a few of  the Atlanta Falcons players visited during lunch. As a member of Big Bethel, we continue to be a leader in our community & this shows how we encourage unity through tragedy.

Falcons Wide Receiver Julio Jones stated that it was an emotional visit and that the players wanted to show their support of them here in Atlanta. I always share how sports brings people together and even in tragedy that is when we look for our sports figures to step up.

Amazing good deed for them to do before heading to Training Camp!
