The sub-par years in New York are coming to an end for Amare Stoudemire. After joining the Knicks in 2010, we as fans thought that the combination with Carmelo Anthony would be an dangerous 1-2 punch the Knicks were in hopes for. Since signing with the Knicks, Stoudemire has been hunted my injuries and more injuries. The New York Knicks will buy out Stoudemire’s contract which he will be paid over $23 Million at the end of the 2015 season and the Knicks will be paying $8.5 Million of that as he plays for the Dallas Mavericks.
Amare Stoudemire will clear his waivers on Wednesday and then sign with Dirk Nowitzki and Rajon Rondo in Dallas. With all of this new found talent landing in Dallas, will they gel together to beat the tough Western conference this year? They do have the talent but since winning the championship in 2009 against the Miami Heat, the Mavs just do not have the edge they once played with. In 2009, to me, the Mavs played as if they “Had” to win or never. Dirk played with desperation in his heart and I will never for get the way he walked off the court after winning the Western Conference Championship as if it was nothing. I loved that.
The Dallas Mavs may look great on paper but I think they are just a few key players away from making that playoff run and getting pass the Western Conference.
