#FansNFL First Female Coach Jen Welter hired by Arizona Cardinals

Looks like Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians can eat his words, “The minute they can prove they can make a player better then they’re hired,” he said on the possibility of female coaches in the NFL states Darren Urban.

Jen Welter was hired as an Assistant Coach Intern that will assist with the Arizona Cardinals linebackers through training camp and preseason. In the NFL, former players have been hired as Coaching Interns. In the NFL, former players have had an opportunity to coach in a league that they played in before. In the NFL, now a WOMAN has opened that door for many women who love the sport, know it and who CAN PLAY IT! In the NFL, now it okay for a WOMAN to be on the sideline and call the shots!

Jen Welter has experience playing Rugby for 14 seasons and was the first female to play in a men’s football league where she was not on the team to just KICK! She has her Master’s degree in Sport Psychology and her PhD in Psychology. She has always proven her position worthy on the field and off the field she brings more knowledge.

Sarah Thomas is our first Full-time Female NFL Official that was hired this season. Becky Hammon led the San Antonio Spurs to the NBA Summer League championship and she was hired as an Assistant Coach last season in the NBA. Opportunities are there for women who love sports and who know the game! It is really inspiring to watch these women work in Male professional sports!
