Georgia Southern Basketball Lose 2 in a Row

Georgia Southern almost went undefeated in the month of January, all they had to was go on the road and beat two teams they had already beaten at home earlier in the month of January. First up was South Alabama, The Eagles had already beat them earlier in an overtime thriller. The second time around it was looking good for the Eagles too, they were up at halftime 40-36. About midway through the second half South Alabama made a come back and took the lead. Georgia Southern’s guard Tookie Brown tied it up with six minutes left, 62-62. right after that South Alabama regained the lead and never looking back. The Eagles suffered their first Sun Belt Conference loss of the season.

Next the Eagles traveled to Troy to hopefully get themselves back on the winning track. Georgia Southern lead for the first five minutes of a close game. Once Troy took the lead they held on to it for the rest of the night. Handing Georgia Southern their second loss in conference play, 83-76. Georgia Southern went from first place in the Sun Belt to a three-way tie for first with, Georgia State and Arkansas State. Troy was able to hold Tookie Brown to only 12 points that night. Guard Ike Smith scored 20 for the Eagles. The Eagles are back home this weekend to play UL Monroe on Saturday and UL Lafayette on Monday. Georgia Southern have already beaten both of these teams also earlier this season. They are hoping to get back on the winning track.
