Georgia Southern Finds Ground Game in Loss to Ole Miss

Georgia Southern made a change during the week before playing Ole Miss Saturday. The Eagles gave the play calling to their other offensive coordinator. The offensive score 27 points while running for 267 yards as a team. Running back Matt Breida had his first one hundred yard game this season along with a touchdown. Georgia Southern’s quarterback Kevin Ellison had a game, he threw for 134 yards while connecting on seven of sixteen throws with a touchdown and a interception. Ellison also ran for 54 yards and another touchdown. The defense held their own against the bigger and stronger Ole Miss team.  The Eagles battled the Rebels hard this game. They just came up a little short. The game ended with a score of 37-27. The Eagles lost the game in the second quarter when they allowed 28 points. Georgia Southern drops to 4-5 on the season. Even though it was a lost there were a lot of positives in the game. It’s nice to see the ground game going again after the App State game.

Georgia Southern has to end the season strong to get bowl eligible but even if the Eagles finish 7-5 on the season it’s not guaranteed for them to make a bowl game. Georgia Southern has some work to do before the end of the season and I know they can finish strong. Georgia Southern’s next game is another Thursday night at home against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns for Homecoming. This game will be on ESPNU at 7:30PM. The Ragin’ Cajuns are 3-5 on the season. Let’s see if Georgia Southern can keep the ground game going Thursday night.

Hail Southern and No Place Else!
