Georgia Southern Football Preview

Welcome fans to the Sun Belt Conference also known as the #FunBelt! This is where the Georgia Southern Eagles calls home and made noise their first two years in this conference. Georgia Southern was conference champs back in 2014 and was not able to get into a bowl game because it was their first year as a FBS school. The next season was a historical for the Eagles although their record didn’t show it.

The Eagles finished with an overall record of 9-4, 6-2 in the SunBelt. I say it was a historical season because the Eagles got into their very first ever Bowl Game, The GoDaddy Bowl. They destroyed Bowling Green, the MAC champions, 58-27. The Eagles are looking to win another conference championship during their third season in the Sun Belt. They have a good chance to make the conference championship and return to a bowl game being lead by the running back duo of Matt Breida and L.A. Ramsby along with new head coach Tyson Summers.

A couple of big games for the Eagles this season are games at Georgia Tech on October 15th and at Ole Miss on November 5th. Back in 2014, Georgia Southern lost to Georgia Tech 42-38 after being down 35-10 at halftime on the road. Georgia Southern isn’t overlooking anyone on their schedule, but they want revenge on Tech after that tough loss.

The Ole Miss game is definitely the toughest game on the schedule this year. After pushing Georgia to overtime and feeling like they beat themselves in that game, they want to prove to the world and college football they are here and they can play with the “big boys”. I can’t wait for the season to start in two weeks. It will be fun and exciting. Big things to come for Georgia Southern and their fans.
