Another Thursday night game for Georgia Southern. It’s Homecoming and the Sun Belt opponent is Lousiana-Lafayette. It’s a must win for the Eagles if they want to keep their postseason hopes alive. Georgia Southern sits at 4-5 now when six wins just gets you in the talk for a bowl game. The Eagles are now below .500 thanks to two back to back loses versus tough opponents App State and Ole Miss. The Eagles will look to keep their ground game going since it looked good against Ole Miss. One problem might stand in the way of that tonight. From inside sources quarterback Kevin Ellison will not play tonight due to a concussion. If this is true, with quarterback Favian Upshaw still being hurt, the Eagles would more than likely start the true freshman quarterback Seth Shuman. No matter who starts for the Eagles at quarterback they need to get the running game going to they can control the game. Louisiana-Lafayette has a good front seven on defense that’s holding opponents to only 3.2 yards per carry this season. Both teams match up very well. This season Louisiana-Lafayette offense can’t find consistency, sounds like Georgia Southern’s ground game. Both teams have pretty good defenses but they get tired after being on the field so long.
Both teams are coming off a loss headed into this game. Georgia Southern got beat by Ole Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette is coming off a homecoming loss to Idaho. This game should be a hard-fought game and a fun one to watch. Since it’s a Thursday night game it will be shown on ESPNU. This is the last chance to watch the Eagles on TV this season so tune in at 7:30 and enjoy the game.
Hail Southern and No Place Else!
