Finally! It’s that time again. Freedom, the eagle, gets to fly again. College football is back baby! Saturday September third at 6 o’clock PM Georgia Southern kicks off their season verus in-state foes the Savannah State Tigers at Paulson Stadium. It’s Law Enforcement Appreciation and Military Appreciation Day at the game. Come support your Eagles and the local law enforcement agencies along with men and women who have and are currently serving in our nation’s armed forces at the game.
Now I understand Savannah State is a FCS team but the last two meetings, Georgia Southern has won by a combined score of 160-18. With the last meeting being in 2014, as Georgia Southern overwhelmed Savannah State 83-9. In that game Georgia Southern ran for 599 yards and had a total of 695 yards during that game. Matt Breida and L.A. Ramsby only combined to run the ball 12 times for 86 yards. Breida had two touchdowns. In my eyes this years team is better and more focus than the team in 2014. So in other words have many points can Georgia Southern score this year on Savannah State? Can they put up another 70+ point game? On Saturday that question will be answered.
I know this isn’t the biggest game on the schedule for Saturday but if you like scoring, on ones team behalf, and a team running for a lot of yards you should come out to the game if your down south around Paulson Stadium. The stadium is going to be rocking. The students on campus are ready to #TametheTigers. Another question for this game is, does Breida get enough touches this game to start his Heisman Campaign? If this game turns out to be like the 2014 game it could be the biggest blow out of the weekend. If you want to tune in the game is on ESPN 3 at 6:00 PM. This is just the start of a fun season to be a Georgia Southern Eagle.
Hail Southern and No Place Else!
