Georgia State University At Sun Belt Media Day

Head coach Ron Hunter seems more than ready during the annual Sun Belt Media Day on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. The defending Sun Belt Champions Panthers will return the Sun Belt Player of The Year R.J. Hunter.

Georgia State was unanimously picked by the coaches as the preseason #1 to win the conference once again. Panthers ended the season 25-9 and 17-1 in conference play with only loosing to Troy 85-81. Head coach hunter states, “We are excited to get the season going.” He says, We have a veteran basketball team that is hungry to make another run. This might be the best defensive team I have had in all of my years as a head coach. The addition of Kevin Ware changed things. I loved our team last year. We were really good offensively, but it was also one of the worst defensive teams I have ever coached. The thing about that team was that they knew how to win and were really explosive. With our additions and work put in, I believe we have a very well-rounded team which could be capable of great things.”

The more familiar face to fans will be Kevin Ware who transferred from the 2013 NCAA National Championship team Louisville Cardinals. Ware inspired a run for the Cardinals after his gruesome leg injury that made headlines. The Panthers season starts November 3 in the Sports Arena at 7pm. I am very excited to get the chance to see this team in action this season.
