The news that the Cleveland Cavaliers were in deep discussion with the Atlanta Hawks to trade Kyle Korver last night came as a big stunner. The 14-year veteran and sharpshooter will most definitely put the Cavaliers in final form. Who will be able to guard this team? While Atlanta fans are bummed about the trade, it is a sweet deal for Korver. Still being active, he watched his team defeat the Pelicans 99-94 and offered his thoughts about the trade afterwards.
“There’s definitely mixed emotions,” Korver said. “There’s a lot of hard ties to Atlanta, for a lot of reasons. A lot of friendships, relationships. It’s where I had my best basketball years, honestly. It’s where I had all my kids. It’s hard to leave that behind.
“Obviously it’s a great opportunity for me to go to Cleveland. So I’m very excited about that part of it. But there’s a lot of relationships that I care about here that I’m going to miss.
“From a basketball perspective, [Cleveland is] a great, great fit for me. And I know that.”
In his prime, Korver led the NBA in three-point shooting in back to back seasons (2013-2014 and 2014-2015). He was Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson before they were a thing. I’m going to miss Korver, a lot. Cavalier fans get to feel what it’s like when Korver is hot and hits those 3’s consecutively. His game is electrifying! Treat Korver well Cavs fans because he deserves it!
