Former Georgia wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell has reached a three-book deal with the children’s book publisher, Scholastic.
As part of the deal, an illustrated version of Mitchell’s self-published children’s book “The Magician Hat” will be releases in May 2018, followed by two more original works.
Mitchell, who has become a noted literacy advocate, received the “Promise Hero Award” in April and founded the “Read With Malcolm” program to help promote literacy in schools in 2015. He spent part of his offseason traveling to schools in New England and Georgia talking about the importance of reading.
Mitchell was a rookie with the New England Patriots, who the Super Bowl this past season. He had 32 catches for 401 years and four touchdowns following a fourth-round selection by the Patriots in the 2016 NFL Draft.
During his career at Georgia, he had 174 catches for 2,350 yards and 16 touchdowns.
