NBA Media Day 2014 (Part 2)

The NBA season is just that much closer now as teams are open for training camp. Over 20 teams opened doors for Media Day on Monday, September 29, 2014. Here is a quick run down on some of your favorite players, teams, and stories.

Just 3 weeks after the very controversial comments made by Atlanta Hawks General Manager Danny Ferry, Hawks Head Coach Mike Budenholzer answered some tuff question from the media during Media Day. Coach Budebholzer states that the news surrounding GM Ferry is unfortunate and the team is moving forward in a positive direction. Hawks Forwards Elton Brand expressed that he was not pleased with the racial comments made towards good friend Luol Deng. Brand says he has since spoken to Deng and noted that he along with himself are ready to move on. Al Horford tells media that GM Ferry seems very remorseful about his actions. What stands out to me is that more Hawks players are willing to give Ferry a second change to prove himself. Could this be a new start for the Hawks franchise?

In Los Angeles, the Lakers opened Media Day with several new and familiar faces. Rookie Julius Randle from Kentucky answered a few questions and tells media how much he watched Kobe growing up. As a Laker fan, I get a feel as the franchise will make Randle the new face of the organization post Bryant. As The Black Mamba enters his 19th season, he states “I’m trying to prove to myself that I can be myself again.” After coming back from such a major injury, he has mixed feelings of excitement and rage. Bryant feels that those emotions will fuel his fight this season. How do you feel this season will unfold for the Lakers?
