Georgia State’s RJ Hunter was announced as the Sun Belts Male Student-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year by the conference on Monday. What an amazing way to end his 3-year career at Georgia State. Hunter was also named an AP All-America Honorable Mention this year. Shortly after GSU’s loss in the NCAA tournement, Hunter announced he was entering the NBA draft. One of Hunter’s highlights this year was his 30-footer with 2.6 seconds to play in the second round of the NCAA tournement as Hunter and the Georgia State Panthers shocked No. 3 Baylor. Hunter scored 12 of the Panthers 13 points in the last 2:53 minutes of the game.
During his senior season, RJ Hunter played all 35 games, making 27 starts. He finishes the seasons with a school-recored 688 points, ranking the top-25 in the NCAA in points per game, total points, free throw percentage, steals per game, minutes per game, free throws made and attempted.
