What a season it’s been! The Atlanta Hawks season came to an end Mother’s Day with a second playoff sweep from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite this gruesome fact the Hawks have had an incredible season and let’s be honest; most of the world wasn’t checking for this team two years ago, so let’s put some RESPECK on their name. 108 wins in two years! They have a solid team and it’s been evident this season once again. I’m sad that it’s over but I’ve had a blast.
I attended seven season regular games, the first two games against the Celtics in the playoffs and a couple of their networking series. This love affair just blossomed and I’m so glad it did. I talk ad nauseam about the Hawks and my love for the team and organization. I think it’s the best NBA team in the league, not because I live in Atlanta, it’s because they have mastered the fan experience. In the words of great Maya Angelou “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” The feeling of entering Philips Arena and leaving feeling full from the fan experience is something that can’t be duplicated. Outside of the team the Sky Team, Harry The Hawk, The Cheerleaders, Sir Foster, The Sixth Man Group, Big Tigger, Ryan Cameron, Shamea Morton, Mike King, Dominique Wilkins, Bob Rathbun, the social media team and countless others MAKE the fan experience!
My attendance has been with family and friends, I’ve watched from the suites and in the stands and every time I left I craved for more. You see, even in losing the Hawks win. Losing matters but does it really if you’re experience was top notch? They even know how to throw a watch party. I’m saddened the season is over, there has to be a winner and loser…we lost sooner than I wanted. Such is life. I’m just thankful that I was able to see the action up close and personal. Remember, she’s always #TrueToAtlanta and a #TrueBeliever. I can’t wait to do it again next year!
