The Jon Robinson era in Nashville is officially underway! The newly minted general manager along with Head Coach Mike Mularkey have sliced the Tennessee Titans roster down to 53 players and look forward to their season opener at home against the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.

The Titans released or waived the following players:

Running back Bishop Sankey
Receiver Justin Hunter
Running back Dexter McCluster
Fullback Sam Bergen
Offensive Lineman Jeremiah Poutasi
Offensive Lineman Will Poehls
Receiver Andrew Turzilli
Linebacker J.R. Tavai
Linebacker Curtis Grant
Cornerback B.W. Webb
Defensive back Marqueston Huff
Kicker Aldrick Rosas
Running Back David Fluellen
Offensive Lineman Tyler Marz
Offensive Lineman Ronald Patrick
Wide Receiver Ben Roberts
Tight End Jerome Cunningham
Tight End Alex Ellis
Linebacker Justin Staples
Nose Tackle Antwaun Woods
Cornerback Kalan Reed
Defensive Back Curtis Riley

“We feel very good about this 53, we do,” Titans Head Coach Mike Mularkey said when asked about claiming players from the waiver wire. “Again, Jon (Robinson) obviously really watches it every day. Obviously, there is a big number coming out this time with the cuts. We’ll look and see if there’s any position across the board that will help us improve the roster. But there’s not a set number or we’re going after this position or we have this many. No, we’ll look and see what’s out there.”

Offensively, the Titans kept three quarterbacks (Mariota, Cassel and Tanney), four running backs (DeMarco Murray, Derrick Henry, Antonio Andrews and fullback Jalston Fowler), six wide receivers, three tight ends and eight offensive linemen. The running game was very productive in the preseason with Murray and Henry giving the Titans the one-two punch in the backfield since the Chris Johnson & LenDale White era. If the Titans throw the ball, Mariota has a proven wideout in Andre Johnson, the newly acquired Rishard Matthews and 5th round pick Tajae Sharpe who has shined since the day he arrived in rookie minicamp.

Defensively the Titans kept seven defensive linemen, nine linebackers, and ten defensive backs. Defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will play a 3-4 scheme with defensive lineman Jerrell Casey, linebacker Brian Orakpo, corners Perrish Cox and Jason McCourty being the most notable standouts. It will be interesting to see if the Titans have enough depth to withstand the passing attacks from their division rivals.

Tennessee has the first selection on the waiver wire.

The Titans projected 53 man roster and depth chart is as follows:
