The Golden State Warriors inched closer to their ultimate goal Sunday night in Oracle Arena. Golden State defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132 – 113 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals which gives them a 2- 0 series lead.
Game 2 was fast paced from the opening tip as both teams looked to run in transition. The lead swung back and forth throughout the entire first half as LeBron James single handedly kept the Cavs afloat. James was relentlessly driving to the basket which kept the Warriors defense on their heels and in foul trouble during the first half.
Ultimately Golden States high powered offense was just too much for Cleveland to handle in the second half. Cleveland played the dangerous game of attempting to outscore Golden State instead of playing solid defense. The Cavs can put up plenty of points but defense has long been their Achilles heel and it came back to bite them today.
One thing that was apparent in Game two was the impact of Kevin Durant. Kd finished with a game high 33 points on 13 of 22 shooting. Each time Cleveland made a run Durant answered with scoring of his own.
If Cleveland is going to get back into this series their role players have to play better. Although LeBron is playing amazing he still needs some form of help from his teammates.
